Back to Back Fun!

by Ms. Ertelt

One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus

Simon Kelleher is one of the most feared and hated people at Bayview High School. He runs the online gossip blog. Bronwyn is the straight A, never breaks the rules, overachiever. Addy is the typical popular, homecoming royalty, dating-the-hot jock girl. Cooper is the All-American, star pitcher for the baseball team. Nate is the criminal. These four are the targets for Simon's next gossip blog and it promises to destroy their lives. Mysteriously, they are all forced together in after-school detention. A freak car accident, a mysterious ingestion of an allergen, and Simon's death turn the world of these four students upside down. All of the secrets they've tried to keep are spilling out and becoming their motives for killing Simon. Told from each of these unreliable narrators, you are taken through the twisted mystery of who killed Simon while also learning how each narrator rebuilds their lives after that day.

One of Us is Next by Karen M. McManus

In the year since Simon's death, there have been a lot of people trying to take his place as the gossip king of Bayview High. But everything changes when a new online game appears- Truth or Dare. The creator of this game has the same uncanny knowledge Simon had and the rule of the game is you don't play, you choose truth. Now, there are new victims and new trouble. The problem is, as the game progresses, the dares get more dangerous. And a lesson learned from Simon's death- you can't trust the police to help or protect you.

Motivation! Now that it's getting closer to summer (don't you love seeing more sun?) AND we are so tired of being stuck in our houses and not seeing our friends, it is really hard to stay motivated and to get our work done. It happens every year, that loss of motivation the last few weeks of school, but this year is harder. However, staying positive and keeping yourself motivated to do your best can make things a little better. Click on one or both of the short videos below to give yourself a little inspiration to stay motivated. Share them with your family, too!

7 Things You Can Control

Live in the Now

from Ms. Whipple
"Forever is composed of nows." ~Emily Dickinson

The Time is Now mindset teaches us the importance of harnessing the power of the moment and taking purposeful action. The simple fact is that all of our power to act and make an impact exists in this moment. Embrace Every Moment- One measure of our lives is how we feel in each moment. When we embrace every moment, we squeeze the most out of all experiences and live lives of greater joy and happiness. We must seek circumstances and moments that create great joy and memories. Even in difficult times, such as losing a loved one, we experience love; while sad, such experiences are still rich and add meaningfully to our lives.

Watch this video on Living in the Now.

Mindful Coloring asks us to focus on how we choose and apply color in a design to bring our awareness to the present moment. With your family, you can color these 7 Mindset Coloring Pages and then do this meditation. This will help you really be present in the moment.  You can also cook as a family or do a virtual call with other family members who don't live in your home. Really look around though, and notice how you're feeling and experience everything with your 5 senses (sight, touch, smell, hearing, taste) and it will help you be more present and embrace the moment.
